Moleskine Sketchbooks Convey Changed - Or Convey They?

In a panic close whether Moleskine has changed its newspaper equally good equally the wrapper for its really pop sketchbooks - equally reported - I ordered some.

The sketchbooks arrived today - together with it's interesting

My gild included:

• a large A4 size sketchbook amongst the novel wrapper (I've previously ordered the Folio Sketchbooks amongst the nighttime mauve wrapper) and
• a normal 'large' sketchbook  with the erstwhile lilac wrapper (with a double page spread of 8" x 10")

I together with so dug out an erstwhile Moleskine that had an empty page, my latest Moleskine together with I photographed them all together - together with this is what they looked like

Moleskine Folio Sketchbook

It looks similar the Folio Sketchbook has dropped the erstwhile nighttime mauve wrapper for a novel lilac edged wrapper. They're soundless called Folio Sketchbooks on the Moleskine website

The Sketchbook A4 has 96 broad pages inwards high lineament heavy paper, ideal for tempera colours. 160 g/m2 top lineament acid gratuitous paper

Interestingly the dorsum of the wrapper describes the newspaper equally straight off having improve absorbing paper.

Now since this is NOT the watercolour sketchbook this seems an strange description. I don't especially desire the newspaper to travel absorbent. I travel coloured pencils together with much prefer difficult sized newspaper because the colours stay far to a greater extent than vibrant if they don't sink into the paper. The erstwhile description was this

• A4 manifestly pages inwards high lineament heavy paper.
• 160 g/m2.
• Dimensions: 21 x 29.7 cm - 12 x 8.5".

On the human face upwards of it the NEW PAPER is lighter inwards color together with it feels equally if it perhaps travel a footling lighter inwards weight despite the assertion that it is inwards fact heavier 165g/m2 equally opposed to the erstwhile 160 g/m2.

So far equally I am concerned the weight together with smoothness of the newspaper is everything. I wouldn't purchase Moleskine sketchbooks at all if they lost either of these characteristics.  I also don't desire a soft sized newspaper - I desire a newspaper where the ink together with coloured pencils I travel sit down on top of the newspaper together with don't croak absorbed past times the newspaper together with lose their 'edge'.

• Sketch Album - 120 g/m2 paper
• Red Notebooks - this is flimsy newspaper that I travel for my notes of exhibitions (however complaint that in that place is a Red Sketchbook which has a encompass which claims 165 g/m2 paper)

I haven't tested the newspaper yet - spotter this space!

What surprised me when I set the Large Sketchbooks together was the divergence inwards the color of the paper. I've non been using my electrical flow Moleskine much - together with straight off I run across why!  The color is agency unlike to normal together with the build novel Sketchbook I that has but arrived is much to a greater extent than similar the 2007 one. Seems equally if someone lost the plot on lineament control.

I've yet to travail the novel Moleskine sketchbooks - but volition written report dorsum when I have.  (Initial trials of hatchling inwards pen together with ink on the dorsum page suggests the newspaper seems pretty similar.)
