Bixby Bridge, Highway I In Addition To Big Niggling Lies

We've started to spotter Big Little Lies - together with I dearest the opening sequence which includes the Bixby Bridge. I'm afraid I bounce upwards together with downwardly at the outset of every episode every bit the Bixby Bridge comes into view, all the piece exclaiming "I've been in that location - that's Bixby Bridge. I stopped there. I drew that!"

In July 2006 - on a trip to a greater extent than or less California, Arizona together with New Mexico, my 3rd 'big trip' involved flight to San Francisco, picking upwards a Chrysler PT Cruiser together with then, afterward a curt halt inwards Monterey, driving at a fairly leisurely footstep all the downwardly Highway 1 - the Pacific Coast Highway - from San Francisco to San Diego - all on my own! Something inwards excess of 550 miles.

This route is almost adjacent to the coast and it follows the coastline - amongst views of the Pacific Ocean en route - almost all the means down

I'd planned to sketch the views from the Highway every bit I progressed - together with postal service close my travels inwards my sketchbook spider web log "Travels amongst my Sketchbook".

What I hadn't planned on was the marine inversion due to the heatwave which was taking house inland. Having experienced the 100 grade estrus piece crossing deserts before inwards the trip, I'd looked frontward to it existence cooler - but would accept preferred cooler amongst to a greater extent than sun!

Which explains why my sketch (below) together with therefore the to a greater extent than developed drawing higher upwards both characteristic the low-lying cloud of a marine inversion - where the mutual depression temperature body of body of water meets the real hot land.

San Francisco to San Diego along the Pacific Coast Highway (26th July - 30th July 2006)
